peach county courthouse elopement

What comes to mind when you read the word elopement? Intimate, chill, freeing, easier?

There are many different ways to interpret the meaning of elopement. It is even more interesting to see what it looks like to elope any one person. I personally love the idea of eloping or even the less “extreme” of downsizing your guest list.

These two found me on Google. They emailed me, fingers and toes crossed, sure that it was too short of notice to book me… little did they know my love of elopements.

I also love A’s reason to book with me: ”I love the tones of all the photos, they are warm and beautiful. I love some of the photo poses or candids that were captured. All the people in the photos look natural and nothing looks too organized, I love it when photos are taken organically.”

This particular date, which was special to A + C due to it being a Wednesday and on the 11th, was met with a gorgeous sky and perfect temperatures to take amazing photos inside and out of the Peach County Court House in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Can we take a moment to look at the photo below and note that if you didn’t know this was at a courthouse, this would look like your typical venue? Elopement does not equal less than. They are not less than any traditional wedding. You are able to dress up or down as much as you want. You can wear as many details as you want and so much more.

A + C decided to dress up and do a first look. If you know me, I am HUGE advocate for doing a first look for many reasons and these photos are one of them. Just look at the joy and love on these two’s faces.

The interior design of the Peach County Courthouse was a mixture of new and old and made my mind start pinging with creativity. The green tiles and aged windows showed the character of this building built in 1936 against the more modern and beige rooms.

The entire ceremony was less than 10 minutes but you can see, once again, the love both between A + C and their families.

After A + C took formal photos, we sent the family off to their “reception” dinner at Natalia’s in Macon. Now, we were able to take our time, explore outside the courthouse and just have fun. I cannot advise you enough to listen to your photographer when we ask for a decent amount of time for these photos. I mean, if we are being real these are most likely the main photos you will be printing, am I right?

Another thing about me is even if I have never photographed the area or I have been there hundreds of times, I am going to look on google maps (satellite view). I am going to put in the address and “scoot” around finding random streets and such to make the photos unique to you.

A perfect example of this is a new(ish) mural painted a few steps away from the courthouse. I did a quick street view scoot and when I saw this in a random vacant lot on a random business wall, my eyes lit up. The bright colors were more vibrant in person and I think represented them well.

That’s all friends! These two rode off into the afternoon to their reception and a lifetime of happiness!
